Reward & Responsibility in local parlance are 6&7.
Reward when it is normal is momentary and at transitional point of a trajectory.
Rewards are solemnized by feelings of achievement or punitive measures. Rewards points to the past and when over pampered become weights and clog in the Wheel of progress. Over celebrated rewards is another word for Pride. When one over-dwells on the past, it becomes a drag.
Responsibility culminates into reward and this is window of transition for deeper engagement and further show of Responsibility is expected.
For a baby to be delivered from pregnancy, both the Baby and the Mother have very important critical roles. The failure of either to play these crucial roles always put more responsibility on the medical team at delivery.
We call the reward of responsible fetus and mother Normal Delivery. Afterwards, Baby lives the solitary confinement of the womb and at the very climax of that exit, takes responsibility for oxygen in the blood systems by breathing and mum after the womb base caretaking does not go on 3 weeks break but picks up nursing and feeding the new born from the tenderly through the very crucial stages where others can join in the caretaking.
What will happen if the mother goes on three weeks leave, or baby decides to insist on belly button supply of food and oxygen???? We all know the obvious reward.
We can see that Rewards sometimes are so momentary that it seems very unnoticeable but Responsibilities are too tangible to overlook.
We have all watched football matches where a team that just score a goal, gets beating two goals down, while in the climax of the euphoria of the goal scored just few minutes back. In the same light, a team that just conceded a goal, is most likely to lose further within the few minutes of the loss.
Managing Gratification, Failure & Punitive Measures properly is crucial to Sustainable Success in Life.
I have observed lots of people look forward to retirement and at retirement, they degenerate so rapidly within the first few months that I wondered, what was triggered in their Psyche during the retirement, that aggravated the ageing process. A lot of people, few months into retirement become financially handicapped as most of their savings and benefits become consumed by depression and its bagwagon.
To live Long and Well, we must keep Discovering our Next Responsibilities and Consciously Playing Down On Gratifications, Failures, and Consequences Of Previous Acts Of Irresponsibility.
At retirement, one can pick up an advisory role, teaching, mentoring, or writing roles among many others like sales of goods and services, farming, sporting classes-teaching retirees by example on how to stay fit, open a gym.
For young ones without a job, volunteer somewhere, choose within 30-60mins walk distance from where you reside; you will definitely find someone that needs an extra hand. Pick up soft skill while waiting and volunteer to gain mastery of use; that will come handy on your next employment.
Above all, avoid all illegality; they are the biggest subtle killers of the creative potentials of the mind. Can you imagine doing three times more work just to commit a crime?
